Are all heat packs the same?

Many of the heat packs on the market today are either ineffective or unsafe. Warm Buddy products combine aromatherapy with moist, long lasting heat which make them a superior heat pack. We have created a wide range of products to assist in comforting a variety of symptoms safely and effectively. The Warm Buddy Company holds a Medical Device Establishment License and products have been clinically tested and proven to treat a variety of medical conditions including stress, pain, insomnia, tense muscles, arthritis and head aches.

How do I heat a Warm Buddy heat pack?

Always pay attention to the specific heating instructions found on every Warm Buddy product:

Microwave heating: Place the pack in the centre of the microwave oven for the prescribed amount of time (heating instructions come attached to every Warm Buddy product). The product is not to touch the side walls of the microwave during heating as product can burn. Some products may have to be folded to allow the microwave's turntable to spin freely. Heating times will vary with the power of the microwave. To prevent heat packs from overheating microwave in 30 second increments until the desired temperature is reached. Allow heat packs to reach room temperature before re-heating. Do not leave pack unattended while heating. Children should not operate microwave ovens.

Oven heating: Completely wrap the heat pack in aluminum foil. Preheat oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit, and heat for 20-30 minutes, depending on the size of the heating pack. Do not leave pack unattended while heating. Setting a timer is recommended.

How long do packs hold the heat?

Warm Buddy therapy heat wraps can hold the heat for 30 - 60 minutes depending on the size of the product. Larger packs like our Body Wrap and Sport Therapy Wrap will hold the heat for a longer period of time.

Why is my Warm Buddy is damp after I heat it?

Warm Buddy heat wraps release moisture when heated. More moisture is released with longer heating times. This moisture will be pronounced upon the first few heatings. The dampness will decrease after several heating and cooling sessions. Reducing heating times will reduce the release of moisture.

How do I cool a Warm Buddy?

Place the product in a plastic bag and put in the freezer for 1 - 4 hours, depending on the size of the product and the desired temperature. The plastic bag will preserve the aromatherapy of the product.

How do I get my heat pack's aromatherapy back?

Over time the aromatherapy of any heat pack will decrease. To refresh the scent, sprinkle a few drops of essential oil to the pack after heating. If the product is used for treatment on the eyes, then the oils should be placed in the corner of the pack - to avoid contact with the eyes.

Which essential oils do I use?

A wide variety of essential oils are available. We recommend using pure essential oils. Lavender is commonly used to provide comfort from stress and headaches. Eucalyptus is best for colds. Our Warm Buddy Anti-Stress formula is effective for soothing the symptoms of colds, flu, stress and headaches. Our Serenity blend is used in the Aromatherapy Eye Pillow and Sleep Mask to relax eyes and help promote deep sleep.

Are packs washable?

Most Warm Buddy products have washable covers. This includes all our Spa Wraps, Neck Rolls, Warming Blankets and Body Wraps. Hand washing or gentle machine washing is recommended to prolong the life of fabrics. The inner heat packs are not to be washed.

Are Warm Buddy products safe?

Warm Buddy heat packs have been manufactured in Canada since 1996 and have undergone extensive testing with no adverse reactions or reports of any problems to date.
